The Meeting of the Two Drums
In 2008 Toronto bookstore owner Itah Sadu and businessman Jose Garcia of Manitoulin Island, in partnership with Pan Fantasy Steelband and the Wikwemikong Community, conceived and developed the Meeting of the Two Drums initiative as a way of bringing the Native and the African/Caribbean communities together. The Meeting of the Two Drums Festival presents an exciting musical opportunity for youth to experience the Native and Caribbean cultures.
2010 was the third year that Pan Fantasy Steelband was in Manitoulin Island for the Meeting of the Two Drums. Our annual visit to Manitoulin Island is an opportunity for drummers from Wikemikong and Pan Fantasy Steel Band to meet and interact. It is a celebration of the unity and connection of the Trinidad and Tobago Steel Drum with the Anishinabek Traditional Drum.
Our cultures see the drum as a sacred beat connecting the love and life of the human realm with the heart beat of Mother Earth .

Pan Trinbago Inc., is dedicated to the promotion and development of the steelpan and pannists worldwide. The organization has been recognized nationally and internationally for its excellent work spanning several decades and is the holder of the Trinity Cross, Trinidad and Tobago's highest national award.
